Katholiko Bay Beach

Katholiko Bay was the main port of the area for several centuries and in Venetian maps it is marked as Porto di San Nicolo.

Old Lighthouse (Aforesmenos)

You can see the remnants of a venetian watchtower on a hill above the cape of Agios Ioannis or cape of Aforesmenos (damned). A lighthouse replaced the fort nowdays, while the ruins of the watchtower still stand.

Spinalonga

Spinalonga is a small island near Elounda, known as the Leper Island, as that is where lepers from Crete and the rest of Greece were quarantined until 1957.

Plaka

Plaka is a seaside fishing village on Elounda Bay which sits opposite Spinalonga Island. It became famous after a TV serial about the history of Spinalonga.

Krios Bay

Krios Bay is a blue lagoon, located in peninsula of Spinalonga and is an ideal place for snorkeling.

Kolokytha & Kolokytha Beach

Kolokytha (pumpkin) is a small island with seagulls located opposite the peninsula of Spinalonga. Between these two coasts there is a sheltered bay with the beautiful sandy beach of Kolokytha.

Kri-Kri Island

Kri-Kri or Mikronisi is an uninhabited small island located north of the town of Agios Nikolaos. It has a lighthouse and a small naturally protected beach with crystal water.

Agios Nikolaos

Agios Nikolaos with the bottomless salt lake, the narrow channel of water which connects the lake with the sea, the small pine tree park lies above the lake and the small harbour with the fishing boats, offers an impressive unique picture.

Golden Beach

It is a sandy beach located 12 km east of Agios Nikolaos city, very well organized.
